🔥 It is a blazing summer.
It is reported that Europe is already experiencing a heatwave with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees. 🌍
We are living in an era where problems that are difficult to solve alone are becoming increasingly common.
With the arrival of summer in the first week of July, where collaboration is desperately needed for both climate change and AI computing,
we begin the story of July 2026 in 🎙️Semiconductor Trends with ITDA Semiconductor. 🚀

In AI computing, what ultimately determines the success or failure of collaboration is ‘motivation’.
It is more important to have a structure that fosters the will to collaborate than to simply have well-established methods for communication.
Why is that?
AI computing performance doesn’t come from making one great chip. Computing technology is layered like a pastry, and hundreds of technical layers, from how a model runs on a chip to the chip’s physical characteristics, all have to mesh together optimally.
The problem is that no single company can excel at all of these layers. So companies acquire what they lack, outsource it, or form partnerships. The OpenAI x Broadcom, Qualcomm x Modular/Tenstorrent, and Broadcom x Apollo deals covered in this issue are all examples of companies bringing their respective strengths together to complete a chip or an infrastructure.
But when pieces are stitched together this way, problems always show up at the seams. When Company A handles design and Company B handles implementation, each works to its own standards, and gaps open up at the boundary between them. Closing that gap requires collaboration where the two companies share data and align on standards.
So how does that kind of collaboration actually get built?
The obvious answers come to mind: use the same tools, exchange data, set up communication channels. But those aren’t the real answer.
What actually matters is motivation, the reason to work together in the first place.
Collaboration only really works when both sides genuinely want to help each other. And that kind of motivation doesn’t survive in a relationship where only one side benefits. As technology keeps getting more complex in the AI era, I think building structures where both sides truly win will become an increasingly important source of strength.
