It has already been over a month since we shared the news that ITDA Semiconductor received ISO 26262 functional safety certification from TÜV Rheinland. 😲
A 20 month certification journey that began in October 2024.
Today we want to share the story of how ITDA approached functional safety not as “paperwork” but as a system design problem.
Automotive functional safety is a demanding process that requires managing countless requirements, verification flows, and traceability. As automotive SoCs grow more complex, the connections between Power, Clock, and DFT architectures and functional safety requirements are becoming increasingly complex as well. 😥
ITDA has approached functional safety requirements by embedding them into the system itself, rather than treating them as something documented separately.
We built the SoC Canvas platform so that functional safety procedures, deliverables, and verification flows could be connected and managed directly within the system, and that process came with its own set of challenges along the way.
You can read more about how ITDA prepared for ISO 26262 and implemented functional safety into the system in the Electronic Times article linked below. 📰
