반도체 시장은 컴퓨팅 수요 증가에 힘입어 꾸준히 성장하고 있지만, 그 안을 들여다보면 분야 별 온도 차가 뚜렷합니다.
AI 반도체는 연평균 50% 이상의 고 성장을 이어가고 있는 반면, 자동차 반도체 시장은 공급망 재편이라는 진통을 겪고 있으며, 스마트폰과 PC 시장은 이미 성숙기에 접어들며 성장세가 둔화되고 있습니다.
많은 반도체 기업들이 ‘넥스트 스마트폰’을 기다리고 있습니다.
스마트폰은 세계에서 가장 복잡한 반도체가 집약된 기기로, 고성능 AP, 카메라, 디스플레이, 네트워크까지 최첨단 기술이 총동원됩니다. 이런 첨단 기기를 전 세계 74억 명이 평균 43개월마다 교체하고 있죠. 그만큼 압도적인 수요를 창출하는 디바이스는 지금까지 없었습니다.
AR, VR, 자율 주행 등 다양한 후보들이 거론되지만, 아직 스마트폰만큼의 임팩트를 만들어낸 제품은 나타나지 않았습니다.

While AI semiconductors are continuing to grow at an average of more than 50% per year, the automotive semiconductor market is experiencing growing pains due to the reorganization of the supply chain, and the smartphone and PC markets are already entering a mature stage and their growth is slowing down.
Many semiconductor companies are waiting for the ‘next smartphone’.
Smartphones are the most complex semiconductor-intensive devices in the world, and cutting-edge technologies are mobilized from high-performance APs, cameras, displays, and networks. 7.4 billion people around the world are replacing these cutting-edge devices every 43 months on average. There has never been a device that has created such overwhelming demand.
Various candidates such as AR, VR, and autonomous driving are being discussed, but no product has yet created as much impact as the smartphone.
So what will be the next generation’s protagonist?
